Tax planning
Planning that looks at your whole picture, not just the return.
The return is the record of what already happened. Planning is where the decisions get made. We'd rather spend our time with you there.
What planning includes
Planning isn't a separate product we sell you once. For most clients it runs alongside preparation through the year.
Event-driven tax planning
Conversations before the big decisions: selling property, taking on a partner, changing compensation, a Roth conversion, retiring, moving. We model the tax consequences so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
Ongoing tax planning
Planning that continues through the year at whatever rhythm suits you: quarterly, twice a year, or annually. We check in, update the projection, and adjust before the year closes rather than after.
Tax-reduction strategy
Timing of income and deductions, retirement plan options, maximizing the qualified business income (QBI) deduction, the pass-through entity tax (PTET) election, donor-advised funds, qualified charitable distributions, adding family members to payroll, and entity choices, applied to your facts rather than pulled from a checklist.
Year-end tax review
A projection of the current year while there's still time to act on it, so estimated payments are right and April brings no surprises.
How we think about it
Your net worth comes first. The tax benefit comes second.
A lot of tax advice gets this backwards. We will not recommend something that saves you tax but leaves you worse off overall. Buying an expensive vehicle you don't need for the deduction, or locking money into a structure that costs more to maintain than it saves, isn't planning; it's spending.
Our job is to make sure the tax consequence of a decision is understood and, where possible, improved. Whether the decision itself is right for you is a bigger question, and we'll help you think about that too.
Have a decision coming up?
That's the best time to call. Tell us what you're considering and we'll help you see the tax side clearly before you commit.
No cost, no pressure, no obligation
What happens when you reach out
-
You send a short note or call
A few sentences about your situation is plenty. You don't need to gather documents or know the right terminology.
-
We get back to you
You'll hear from a member of our team, not an automated reply.
-
We talk about whether we're a fit
The first conversation is free. We'll tell you plainly what we can help with and what it would look like to work together.
